What is the Assisted Living Waiver program? How can it help you?

The ALW program is intended to help Medi-Cal beneficiaries to live in a community like ours as many people do not need to enter a skilled nursing facility. ALW offers benefits to eligible adult persons with disabilities. It works through reimbursement for the services provided to residents enrolled in ALW through their SSI or SSDI.

At Highland Manor, we offer the best experience of transitioning to a community home-like setting like ours at Highland Manor. We can help you learn if you qualify and help you with the process. Please call us at 1-323-955-1000 for assistance and questions.

The state of California understands that for some people, the best fit is not in a nursing home, but rather in a community such as the one we’ve established here at Highland Manor, where we provide a high level of care at a lower cost than many other options. The Assisted Living Waiver program is best suited for individuals who need long-term care assistance with personal care and household tasks. ALW is a relatively new program that was launched as a pilot in 2009 and was amended and approved for renewal in 2019.
